FIONA PHILLIPS

Journalist and broadcaster Fiona Phillips is probably best known for her 12 years on the GMTV sofa; ITV’s hugely popular flagship breakfast show. This role saw her interview the great and good of entertainment, politics and current affairs as well as championing the stories and issues that the country woke up to each day . Throughout her career Fiona’s genuine warmth, intellect and sense of humour has won her the affection of a national audience and has seen her build a reputation as one of the country’s foremost broadcasters.

Most recently Fiona presented BBC1’s The Truth About….Sugar as part of the channel’s investigative science documentary series and is set to present another film in the The Truth About series this year. Fiona  has also fronted films for BBC1’s Watchdog,  presented the deeply personal Mum, Dad, Alzheimer’s and Me for Channel 4’s Dispatches and underwent pioneering genetic testing for Alzheimer’s in ITV’s documentary The Killer in Me. She also presented two highly acclaimed Panorama films; Finished at 50? and Undercover Elderly Care for BBC1.

As well as presenting across a number of channels, Fiona is a sought after guest and has appeared on ITV’s Daybreak, This Morning, BBC Two’s Daily Politics, The One Show, Comic Relief Does The Apprentice and Strictly Come Dancing. She also regularly guest presents ITV’s entertainment and lifestyle show Lorraine.

Fiona started her career in independent radio and has gone on to host a number of popular shows including her own Sunday morning radio shows for BBC London and Smooth Radio, Radio 2’s Good Morning Sunday and host cover for BBC London’s Jo Good and Simon Mayo’s BBC Radio 5 Live show.

Fiona is an ambassador for the People’s Postcode Lottery, an organisation whose players have helped raise over £99 million for a number of both national and global charities and initiatives, something she’s incredibly proud to be a part of.  She also writes a weekly column for The Mirror and has contributed to a vast array of publications including Tesco Magazine, Woman and Home, Good Housekeeping  and Saturday Express Magazine. In 2010 she also released her bestselling book Before I Forget which was published by Random House.

A passionate campaigner for a number of national charities, Fiona is an ambassador for Age UK, The Alzheimer’s Society, Alzheimer’s Research UK, Carers UK, The Prince’s Trust, MIND, Plan International and Missing People.

She holds an Honorary Masters Degree from Solent University in Southampton for her contribution to journalism and broadcasting and is an Honorary Fellow of Cardiff University.
