Rolf the artist
Rolf's first love is painting. In recent years he has presented the BBC TV shows Star Portraits with Rolf Harris and Rolf on Art which made TV history when it gained the highest ever viewing ratings for an art programme. His famous portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II, to celebrate her 80th birthday, was the subject of a special programme The Queen, by Rolf which was screened on BBC One in 2006.
Rolf is the first artist to be commissioned by the Royal Australian Mint to design the new commemorative one dollar silver kangaroo coin, which was launched in September 2006. His BBC One documentary, A Lifetime in Paint, about his amazing life as an artist was screened in January 2007.
Other recent projects include a third series of Star Portraits and a Rolf on Art special, Rolf on Lowry for BBC1, Made in England for BBC 1 and Britain's Favourite View for ITV1. His artwork can be viewed and purchased through the link below.
Rolf the musician
Rolf's recording career spans fifty years. Highlights include "Sun Arise", often considered the first 'world music' record and produced by George Martin and "Two Little Boys", the last UK Number 1 of the 1960s and the first of the '70s!
Rolf most recently re-recorded "Two Little Boys" with the Fron Male Voice Choir and can be heard on their Top 20 album "Voices of the Valley: Home" (Universal). He has also contributed to the soundtrack for the new Baz Luhrmann feature film Australia.
In June 2008 Rolf was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association Hall of Fame, acknowledging his remarkable recording career, the highlights of which have recently been collated on a three-CD set the Platinum Collection (EMI).
In 1973 Rolf played the first ever concert at the Sydney Opera House and, 35 years later, he will be performing a series of special concerts at the venue in December 2008. More details can be found on his official website, below.
